I cannot believe that we leave two weeks from today! My friend Gaily commented that I have been slacking in my blogging, I feel like I post all the time. I was shocked to see how long it actually has been.
We have a few things set for the trip. We leave Sunday, Nov 23 at 5 pm from JFK and arrive in Rome at 8 am on Monday. Our plan is to go to our hotel (which is RIGHT across the street from the Colesseum) and putz around Rome for the afternoon.
Tuesday- we had one game plan - but I'm gonna talk to Lina about doing a bus trip to Tuscany. If not, then we will do the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain etc.
Wednesday - I AM SO EXCITED...we are taking a Papal Audience at the Vatican and will tour Vatican City & the museums. That night we are going to an opera. An opera in Italy... WOO HOO!
Thursday - We head to Sorrento. I want to give us a few days in this area. We would like to see Capri, the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Pompeii - Lina and I decided that if we don't like something, we won't do it. Or if we see it and say "Eh, we saw it" that's fine.
I met a new person on Thursday who lived in Rome for a few years. She suggest buying gold in Florence, buying handcrafted wooden boxes in Sorrento and not buying anything on Capri.
I told Lina that I could care less if we sit around in a Piazza sipping cappucino and people watching - I AM GOING TO BE IN ITALY! And, I don't have to cook Thanksgiving dinner! How freakin' awesome is that?!
So much to see and do! Plan on taking LOTS of pictures- just bought a 1Gb photo card. Woo hoo!
