Day 6 - What I loved most about Italy

THE FOOD! Ugh - I couldn't get enough. I was sorta bummed we had two days of hotel food in Sorrento. I could not get enough mozzarella and prosciutto. I had wine or proseco with every meal. I ate gelato every day (trying different flavors) Grabbed panini's, have a greater appreciation for acqua con gas and even tried roasted chestnuts while walking through the Spanish Steps!

I kept a log of all the items I ate on the trip, and while I didn't try too many new things, I did try authentic Italian versions of my favorites. Cannoli, tiramisu, cheese, cheese and more cheese! Pane! Soooooooo good!

While we were in Sorrento we found a great little place down one of the side streets where I had risotto with pancetta and arugula and we had Neapolitan gelato! Everything here is so flavorful. Tomato sauce is thick and chunky. The tomatoes are so sweet. Not a huge fan of lemoncello, but was able to gain an appreciation for the different varieties. We tried this version where the process turns it into a consistency like that of Baileys - now THAT I could drink indefinitely!

We took the time to really savor and enjoy each meal. We wandered around Sorrento and took in all the little shops. I went nuts in Upim - their version of "Target" where risotto, truffles, cheese, coffee, pasta, chocolate and pesto were FREAKIN CHEAP!! I could have filled a whole new suitcase with food items.

I definitely think my next trip back will be culinary tour.
