Italy Day 5 - Amalfi

We woke up to the sound of wind and rain pelting the hotel. Now, it could have been the fact that I was hung-over, or it might have really been raining - it is really hard to tell...

We were supposed to head to the island of Capri today, but we were told the weather was not good. We weren't told anything else, but to wait. It was frustrating, and then Elena walked in - "are you the two"? We were like, two what?

We got our own personal, Mercedes escorted tour to Positano and Amalfi. The road to Amalfi reminded me of when John and I drove the Road to Hana on Maui's northern border...twists and turns galore! But WHAT SITES! So spectacular and beautiful - even in the rain.

Lina and I started saying that a rainy day in Italy is still better than a day at work.

I am still in awe of the beauty. We stood at this one point just watching the waves roll in and out. I could have stayed there all day. Amalfi is what I pictured in my romanticized version of Italy - little alley-ways and beautiful balconies, little shops and people hanging out along the way sipping their cappuccino.

My favorite stop was at Piccadilly - http://www.mcpiccadilly.com/ - a shop full of handcrafted Italian pottery. I LOVED IT! Got the most amazing piece, and was able to ship it home. It arrived the other day - and it was so awesome having a package arrive from Italy. Made me realize it wasn't a dream!!

Amalfi is what made Lina realize she belongs in Italy. Can't wait to go visit her!
