Ponderings

So....I've been reading this book about Four Seasons in Rome by some crackpot author who got a freakin' scholarship to live in Rome for a year and write - and he sucks. Seriously, it's just random thoughts that have no real story other than his observations of being in Rome, slacking off and happening to be there when the Pope died.

Then I begin to think...shit, I can write a book. Perhaps my travel diaries will become best sellers and then I can fund additional trips. :)

Going to Italy awakened something in me I knew I had but was afraid to embrace...the international travel bug. Europe always seemed so distant, so expensive and so unattainable. And yet, I'm booked to go back! I am wondering if Lina and I will be able to keep up our yearly Thanksgiving excursions. I hope so!!

I was poking around on the internet today trying to figure out what day trips would be manageable from England...aside from Strafford-Upon-Avon, Brighton, Windsor, and Bath they have Brussels. Yes, that is right - Brussels as in home of my favorite fruit topped waffle. I was like, Brussels, but not Scotland. Seems to me if you were on the same island that seeing Nessie would be easier but apparently not.

So many things to see and do, and I wonder if we can squeeze Brussels (home of the once super-hot Jean Claude Van Damme) into our agenda. I mean, it IS on the way to Paris. (sort of)

Since Lina and I deliberately don't plan, it will be interesting to see where EuroStar takes us.

Oh, yeah - BTW we are going to Boston in a few weeks for Lina's bday. She's never "done" Beantown so I'm bringing her to "NEW" England before we hit "OLD" England!!

Can't wait to see what trouble we get into there...
:)

I am always annoyed when I hear about the good fortune of others who are no better than I am darn it!! That author getting PAID to live there?? Come ON!
I am jealous of the Samantha Brown types who get paid to travel the world and test out the cuisine and luxurious establishments and activities. Um..hello?? How awesome and relevant would a travel show with 3 kids of varying ages be? People would watch it, I tell you!! Pick me, pick me!!
